Frequently Asked Questions

What is a halyard hanger?

A small stainless steel fitting with a paracord loop that mounts in your cockpit. You coil a halyard, sheet or reef line and hang it, so lines stay off the deck and stop slapping.

Will it stop halyard slap at the dock?

Yes. Tension the coiled tail on the hanger so the halyard can’t swing. For slap on the mast itself, also pull the halyard away from the mast with a short line.

How do I install it?

Mark two holes, drill 11/64-in pilot holes, bed them with marine sealant, and fasten with two #8 stainless countersunk oval-head screws, or through-bolt for maximum strength. It takes about 10 minutes. See our install video.

Are screws included?

Screws are not currently included. We recommend #8 stainless countersunk oval-head screws, sized to your bulkhead thickness.

What is it made of?

Solid polished stainless steel with 550-lb-rated paracord. No plastic to crack in the sun.

Will it fit my boat?

If you have a flat or gently curved mounting surface, yes. Owners have mounted them on Beneteau, Jeanneau, Catalina and others, plus dock boxes and garages.

How many do I need?

Most 30–40 ft boats use 4 (main and jib halyards, and both jib sheets). Boats with more lines led aft usually go with the 6-pack.

How do I care for it?

Rinse with fresh water. Polish occasionally with a stainless cleaner. Replace the paracord loop if it’s ever worn; any 550 paracord works.
